Greetings !

Today i explained how to get started with Ruby on Rails to my teammate Suresh.

Then our team members gathered to work all together on a single laptop to perform the following tasks in Ruby on Rails as instructed by our mentor Mr. Chandrashekar sir

Task – 1

Create a model representing user with the following fields:

Username
Password
Email
Fullname
Location
Mobile_number
Website
Facebook_id
Twitter_id
Linkedin_ id
Contact_details

Task – 2

Create a controller for user with the following actions

Sign_in
Sign_out
Register
Remove
Modify_account_details

We did the following steps to create a rails project, to create a model and controller

Creating a new rails project

rails new trainersunion -d mysql

cd trainersunion

Configure mysql database

gedit config/database.yml

Creating the database

rake db:create

Creating a model

rails generate model User username:string password:string email:string fullname:string location:string mobile_number:integer website:string facebook_id:string twitter_id:string linkedin_id:string contact_details:text

Migrating into database

rake db:migrate

Creating a controller

rails generate controller Users

We took steps to write code to display the actions in view level, but we got confused with rails conventions

We divided individually to try to write code

I gave a try but i didnt get

Will be continue tomorrow

By 4 p.m. we gathered for SCRUM meet and i told as i was teaching rails to suresh and working towards the tasks
